Oversized shapes are trending right now. I’m ready to shed the heavy layers (not really, but at least a heavy coat), and I’ve been gravitating towards all of my button downs. From work to weekend, I’ve come up with a ton of ideas for how to wear the oversized shirt.

The Perfect Oversized Shirt

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen alot of oversized shirt...A LOT. Like A LOT. I love this shirt for so many different reasons. But these are my favorite: it’s super relaxed and has a menswear feel, it’s not like your typical cotton poplin – it’s almost a lightweight oxford. It feels slightly more structured, which I love. And it’s an all year round fabric.

Now let’s talk about ways to style it.

Ways To Style An Oversized Shirt

Pair with some jeans

So what I’m wearing in this post. The most simple way to style this silhouette. I love how EFFORTLESS this outfit. And since there are a lot of options for the Etienne, and a lot of denim washes…it looks like you’re wearing a new look every time so it never feels old!

Throw on a pair of leggings/pants

Another way I love wearing an oversized shirt? With a pair of cropped flare pants, cigarette pants, or a pair of stirrup leggings. This looks is just so simple yet elevated to me! I love wearing this outfit with a little heel to spice things up!

Wear it open

I was filming some videos last week and discovered a new way to wear an oversized shirt. I LOVE wearing it opened with a little tank underneath. Paired back to some jeans and you have such a simple casual look!

Your official third piece

Sometimes in the summer, I get stuck on how to add a third piece to my outfits. That’s why I think an oversized shirt would look so good paired over a little mini dress. This is another good way to take something that might be considered “dressier”, but throwing a shirt on over it helps make the look a bit more casual.

A lil tuck

And when all else fails, unbutton your shirt halfway up, take one side and tuck in. And then you have a little more of an undone look!

Are you into the oversized shirt?

So in conclusion, we love this shirt. The best part is that there are just so many ways to style it, and that’s why it’s one of my most beloved pieces in my closet.
